A Celebration of Japanese Culture at FELAB 2026

As part of the special program of the XV International FELAB Congress 2026, the Oriental Arts Festival, a fascinating dive into Japanese traditions. Promoted by Japanese-Brazilian Cultural and Charitable Association of Curitiba – NIKKEI Curitiba, an entity with a rich history in preserving and promoting Japanese culture in Brazil, the festival promises to enchant the public with art, learning and unforgettable flavors.

Tradition and expertise

THE NIKKEI Curitiba, known for holding high-profile events such as the IMIN MATSURI – Japanese Immigrant Festival and the HARU MATSURI – Spring Festival brings all its experience to the Oriental Arts Festival. A special moment to celebrate and reinforce the historical and cultural ties between Brazil and Japan.

The Oriental Arts Festival will also be a celebration of the important historical and cultural connections between Brazil and Japan, marking the commemorations related to Japanese immigration: 118 years since the arrival of the first immigrants to Brazil and the 131 years of commercial relations between the two countries.

Free art demonstrations and workshops

During the festival, the public will have the opportunity to experience demonstrations of the most traditional Japanese arts, including:

• Ikebana (flower arrangements)
• Origami (paper folding)
• Shodo (calligraphy)
• Sumie (painting)
• Manga (Japanese style drawings)
• Taiko (Japanese drums)

In addition to the presentations, free workshops will be held, encouraging learning and appreciation of oriental artistic expressions.

One of the festival's highlights will be the typical Japanese cuisine area, where participants will be able to taste traditional dishes that represent Japan's culinary richness.
