Luiz Carlos Queiroz Galvão, known as Luiz Galvão. Born in the city of Igarassu, Pernambuco, this great 72-year-old artist continues to dedicate himself to the art that transformed his life.

He began his journey in bonsai in 1998, through a beginner's course. It wasn't "Karate Kid" that led him to practice the art, but rather a personal moment when Luiz needed to find a way to calm his spirit, which at that time needed balance.

After completing the course, she realized she still lacked a more comprehensive understanding. Her quest for knowledge became intense, mainly due to the scarcity of suitable materials to answer her questions. It was then that she began searching for native plants that offered good material to fully immerse herself in this world.

During that same period, he met Professor Juarez Alves, from Natal, and Sergivaldo Costa, from João Pessoa. Together, we began exploring the coastal sand dunes of Rio Grande do Norte, Paraíba, and Ceará, in search of native species. From there, he also began seeking knowledge in the South and Southeast of the country, where there were already more established practitioners.

He participated in several events with international demonstrators, always seeking to improve his knowledge. Luiz Galvão conducted demonstrations and exhibitions, bringing native bonsai to bonsai enthusiasts throughout Brazil.

Today, this movement has succeeded in taking native Brazilian species throughout the country, contributing to the construction of a national identity within bonsai. Luiz feels grateful to see that the effort was not in vain, witnessing the appreciation and growing demand for Northeastern species gaining space on the national scene. His extensive knowledge and consistent cultivation have made Luiz Galvão one of the leading experts on native bonsai in Brazil.

With a focus on Naturalistic Bonsai, observing plants in their natural habitat and applying bonsai techniques to correct imperfections when necessary, his work maintains the essence of the species in nature.
