Born in 1978 in the city of Feltre, Italy, Mauro Stemberger has built a career that combines technique, artistic sensitivity, and academic training. His relationship with bonsai began early: at the age of 14, he joined the local bonsai club in his city and began to dedicate himself intensely to the art. Between 1994 and 2001, he deepened his studies by participating in workshops with leading European figures such as Hotsumi Terakawa, Marc Noelander, Horst Crekler, and Edoardo Rossi, among others.

In 2002, during a meeting in Arco, he had a decisive encounter with Alfiero Suardi and Enrico Savini, who contributed to the refinement of his technique. Simultaneously, he studied Architecture at the IUAV University of Venice, a background that is clearly reflected in his aesthetic interpretation, composition, and structure of trees. In 2005, he founded the Italian Bonsai Dream studio, created as a space for the study, production, and experience of the art of bonsai in its entirety.

From 2007 onwards, he began publishing articles in leading specialized magazines worldwide, such as Bonsai Focus, UBI Bonsai, and BCI Bonsai & Stone Appreciation Magazine. The following year, he was officially recognized as an instructor by BCI (Bonsai Clubs International). Between 2008 and 2010, he presided over UBI – Associazione Italiana Bonsai and served as editorial director of UBI Bonsai magazine.

In 2011, he created the Italian Bonsai Dream School in Marostica, together with his students, and since then has maintained an active collaboration with important Italian clubs such as Marostica Bonsai Club, Nero Bonsai Brescia, and Japan Bonsai Roma.

Since 2012, Mauro Stemberger has traveled the world giving demonstrations and workshops for prestigious international clubs, associations, and events. His presence has been highlighted at events such as the Trophy (Belgium), EBA and FELAB conventions, Golden State Bonsai Federation events (California), the National US Show (Rochester), Black Scissors (China and Indonesia), and national exhibitions on every continent.

Today, he is considered one of the most sought-after bonsai artists on the international scene, recognized for his distinctive and original style and his ability to convey knowledge in a clear, engaging, and didactic way.
