THE FELAB Brazil 2026 realizará uma grande exposição de suiseki, a tradicional arte japonesa de apreciar pedras moldadas naturalmente, que remetem a paisagens, figuras humanas, animais e formas da natureza.
Following international standards, the exhibition will feature pieces of high technical quality, including some from outside Brazil, offering visitors the opportunity to appreciate the beauty of this art in its most diverse expressions.
The submitted specimens will undergo a pre-selection process to participate in the exhibition. Suiseki FELAB Brazil Competition 2026 will distribute prizes in various categories.

SUISEKI EXHIBITION AND COMPETITION
XV FELAB Brazil International Congress 2026
1. PRESENTATION AND OBJECTIVES
The Organizing Committee of the XV International Bonsai Congress FELAB BRASIL 2026 is pleased to announce... FELAB BRAZIL 2026 SUISEKI COMPETITION, which will be held during the Congress, at the Positivo Events Center, Barigui Park, Curitiba (PR), between the days November 6th and 8th, 2026.
The main objective of the competition is to stimulate the art of Suiseki In Brazil, featuring stones from various regions of Brazil and abroad. The stones will be carefully evaluated by judges appointed at the Congress.
This regulation governs all the rules of the competition, and its interpretation and application are the sole responsibility of the Organizing Committee.
2. PARTICIPATION AND REGISTRATION
- Target Audience: Suiseki collectors of any nationality.
- Mandatory Requirement: To be properly registered for the XV FELAB BRASIL 2026 Congress. Registration for the competition is free.
- Limit per Participant: Each participant may register up to 5 (five) stones, regardless of category, can be selected up to 3 (three) elements for the exhibition.
- How to Participate: Completion of the form available on the website www.felabbrasil.com.br, with submission of photos of the Suiseki for evaluation according to established criteria. The Committee reserves the right to reject entries that do not meet the requirements.
- Registration Validation: It occurs within 5 (five) business days after shipment.
- Selection Result: It will be published on the event's official website on [date]. August 15, 2026.
3. CATEGORIES AND AWARDS
3.1 General Categories
Prizes for 1st and 2nd place.
- Landscape Stones (Sansui Keijo-seki): Stones that suggest natural landscapes such as mountains, islands, waterfalls, coastlines, or plateaus.
- Object Stones (Keisho-seki): Stones that resemble concrete shapes such as human figures, animals, boats, or houses.
- Drawing or Surface Stones (Mon'yo-seki): Stones with natural patterns such as flowers (chrysanthemums), moons, stars, rain, or abstract designs.
3.2 Special Awards and Trophies
Granted by entities and/or sponsors
- Best Presentation: Composition with at least 3 elements – Suiseki, Kakejiku (painting) and Kusamono (accent plant);
- Elio Secchi Award;
- BCI Award (Bonsai Clubs International);
- UBE Award (Unión del Bonsái Español).
3.3 Top Prize – Best Suiseki of the Event (Best in Show)
All stones displayed at the event participate in this category, not just those entered in the competition. The selection will be made by Master Kunio Kobayashi.
The award will be announced and presented during the Gala Dinneron the day November 7, 2026 (Saturday).
4. REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS AND DOCUMENTATION
Registration must be done exclusively online through the official website www.felabbrasil.com.br, during the period of March 1, 2026 (00:01) until August 1, 2026 (00:01).
Suiseki data:
- Origin: Location or region where the stone was collected (river, mountain, hill, etc.), if possible to identify;
- Country: Country of origin of the stone;
- Measurements:
- Height: From the base of the daisa or suiban to the apex of the stone;
- Length: From the stone or daisa/suiban (considering the larger measurement), essential for planning the exhibition space.
Digital photographs (JPEG, PDF or PNG, max. 5MB each):
- 01 front view;
- They should reflect the overall appearance of the stone with daisa or suiban, as it will be displayed;
- Sharp focus, smooth background (light or white), without distracting elements;
- Files identified as: FirstNameLastName01.jpg, FirstNameLastName02.jpg, etc.;
- Prohibited: Images altered by software (Photoshop) or generated by Artificial Intelligence. Violation will result in disqualification.
5. JURY AND EVALUATION CRITERIA
- Commission: Composed of event participants and experts of recognized reputation in the art of Suiseki.
- Process: Independent and confidential trial, with irrevocable decisions.
- Criteria: Evaluation by points, based on international benchmark competitions.
6. REGULATIONS FOR THE EXHIBITION
- Anonymous Identification: The stones will be displayed only with their registration number and technical data. The owner's identity will be revealed after the award ceremony.
- Mandatory Presentation: Suiseki cannot be displayed directly on the countertop; it must be placed on a daisa (wooden base) or suiban. The use of a display table, jita, or mat is mandatory.
- Conservation: Pedra, daisa, and suiban must be properly cleaned.
- Assembly: The participant is responsible, as instructed by the organization.
- Prohibitions: Publishing photos before the official opening or altering the setup after inspection by the committee.
- Penalties: Failure to comply with the rules will prevent Suiseki from being exhibited at the event.
7. LOGISTICS
Suiseki Reception
- Date: 05/11/2026 (Thursday), from 8:30 AM to 10:00 PM;
- Location: Positivo Events Center (entrance through the parking lot at the back) – Alameda Ecológica Burle Marx, 2518 – Santo Inácio – Curitiba – PR;
- Process: Registration and official Suiseki photo session.
Suiseki withdrawal
- Sunday (November 8th): Starting at 6:00 PM;
- Monday (November 9th): From 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (with prior authorization).
8. RESPONSIBILITIES AND GENERAL PROVISIONS
- Transportation and Costs: All shipping, transportation, and insurance costs for Suiseki are the sole responsibility of the participant.
- Security: There will be contracted security 24 hours a day during the event.
- Image Rights: The participant automatically grants the rights to their personal image and that of the registered Suiseki for dissemination, publication (including in the event's book) and digital media, without geographical or temporal restrictions and without remuneration.
- Acceptance: Participation implies full acceptance of these rules.
