Germán Arellano He is originally from Cali, Colombia. The son of a bonsai artist, he is the second person in his family to practice the art. He began cultivating bonsai at the age of 10 and, although he has a degree in Social Communication and Journalism, he has always maintained bonsai as his main passion.

Since 2003, when he was accepted as an apprentice by Chase Rosade of Rosade Bonsai Studio, he has dedicated himself to sharing his knowledge in countries such as Ecuador, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Argentina, Mexico, and Colombia. In 2005, he was selected for the first Latin American and Caribbean Bonsai New Talent Competition, held during the Latin American Congress in Martinique, winning first place in the inaugural edition.

In 2010, he was invited as a demonstrator in Slovakia, returning in 2011 for further presentations and workshops, also in Poland. In 2012, he participated as a demonstrator at the Latin American Bonsai Congress (FELAB) for the first time. Throughout his career, he has been involved in international events and clubs and currently holds the position of second vice-president of the Latin American and Caribbean Bonsai Federation (FELAB).

In 2013, he represented Colombia at the World Bonsai Convention in Jintao, China, and, over the next five years, made several trips to the country to give demonstrations and workshops. Later, he focused his efforts on improving his nursery in Cali, where he cultivates tropical species, junipers, and pines adapted to the local climate.

Currently, he continues to teach classes and workshops in countries such as Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Argentina, and Brazil, where he also studied with Master Mauro Stemberger at the Junípero International School. His philosophy is based on the idea that teaching is a continuous form of learning.

This text presents a brief overview of his journey in bonsai, although there is much more to be shared. Germán Arellano is the current second vice-president of the Latin American and Caribbean Bonsai Federation (FELAB) and takes great pleasure in sharing his knowledge, hoping that his students will appreciate and benefit from his classes.
